Uncle Len

COOLEY, Leonard William "Len"

COOLEY, Leonard William "Len" - 84, Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 27, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 8, 1923, in Halifax, he was a son of the late Leonard Sr. and Rose (Taylor) Cooley. Len was a veteran of the Second World War and served overseas in England. After the war, he was employed as a plumber and pipefitter, and retired from CFB Shearwater in 1986. Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, the former Ida Madelyn Elliott; daughters, Julie Gay (Pat), Cole Harbour; Glenda (Scott) MacDonald, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Patrick, Melanie, Leah, James "Bo", Traci, Robyn, Jared, Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Alex, Grace, Kaylee, Isaac, Benjamin, Tyler; brother, Francis, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Ann Harrison, Rose Dares, Nellie DeRaine, Hilda Hines, Geraldine Sutherland; brothers, James, Ronald. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Arthur Snow officiating. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Len's memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, 5161 George St., Floor 7, Halifax, NS B3J 1M7, would be appreciated. SUTHERLAND, Geraldine Mary

SUTHERLAND, Geraldine Mary - 76. It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our wife, mother, and grandmother on December 3, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. Lifetime resident of Tuft's Cove, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Rose (Taylor) Cooley. Surviving are her loving husband of 49 years, Lester; her children, Dave (Betty) Foggoa, Guysborough County; Christine (Jack) Seaman, Wayne (Lynda) Foggoa, Lorna (Wayne) Giles and Darlene (Dale) Paulson, all of Dartmouth; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward A. Foggoa; sisters, Nelly Deraine, Hilda Hines and Rose Dares, and brothers, Jim and Ronald Cooley. She is survived by sister, Anne Harrison, and brothers, Leonard and Frank Cooley. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held in Stairs Memorial United Church on Thursday, December 7, at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Allison Davis. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial to take place at a later date. Donations may be made to The Lung Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements entrusted to Dartmouth Funeral Home.

HINES, Victor "George"
HINES, Victor "George" - 50, Victoria, B.C. formerly of Dartmouth, passed away suddenly on December 24, 2005, at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Victor and Hilda (Cooley) Hines. He was a journeyman carpenter by trade and well-known throughout the field. He is survived by his children, Melissa LaPointe, Lawrencetown; Melanie and David, Cole Harbour; granddaughter, Jasmine LaPointe; brothers, John (Heather) Cole Harbour, Peter (Nadine) Chezzetcook; Michael, Victoria, B.C.; sisters, Rebecca (Ernest) Smith, Montreal and Jo-Ann Sagar, Tatamagouche. He was predeceased by brother, Douglas. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends in Dartmouth and Victoria. No visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in Pope John XXIII Church, Cole Harbour.

HINES, Victor "George " Passed away unexpectedly December 24, 2005 in Victoria, B.C. Born in Halifax, May 31, 1955. He was a journeyman carpenter by trade and well known throughout the field. He will be truly missed by all the hearts he touched and remembered for his bright friendly smile and loving heart in helping friends in need. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation in George's memory.
